According to the data from TÜİK's Health Module, a significant portion of households sees examination, treatment, and medication expenses as a burden on their budgets; it is particularly noteworthy that health expenditures create financial pressure in the low-income group.
According to the data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on the Health Module, a significant portion of households indicated that examination and treatment expenses create a burden in their budgets.
NEARLY HALF OF THE PUBLIC SEES IT AS A "BURDEN"
In the last 12 months, it was observed that doctor examination and treatment expenses were a heavy burden for approximately 7.3% of households, a slight burden for 36.1%, and did not create a burden for only 47.7%. This situation revealed that the costs of healthcare services create economic pressure for many families.
THE SAME VIEW FOR MEDICATION EXPENSES
The same report found that medication expenses also weigh heavily on household budgets, with 5.9% considering medication costs a heavy burden and 37.3% viewing them as a slight burden. A similar distribution of burden was observed in dental examinations and treatments.
TÜİK data shows that approximately 9% of households spent on doctor examinations in the last 12 months, while 36.6% spent on dental examinations, and the distribution of healthcare expenses according to income levels was also examined. Accordingly, in the lowest income group, healthcare expenses brought a greater burden to the household budget, while this rate remained lower in the highest income group.
