There is a crisis regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Greece. The main opposition party, SYRIZA, has demanded the resignation of Deputy Minister of Energy Nikos Tsafos for using the term 'TRNC' in a post he made in 2020.
The main opposition party in Greece, the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA), demanded the resignation of Deputy Minister of Energy Nikos Çafos for using the term "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)" in a post he made in 2020.
"USING THIS TERM IS A GREAT MISTAKE" SYRIZA's spokesperson Yorgos Karameros stated in a program he participated in on Greek state television ERT that Çafos used the term "TRNC" during his time as an economic analyst, expressing that this is unacceptable. Karameros said, "Using this term is a great mistake. It is not acceptable to write TRNC and not apologize." He emphasized that Çafos should resign immediately.

HE HAD ASSUMED OFFICE AFTER THE CABINET CHANGE Çafos was appointed as Deputy Minister of Energy following the cabinet change that took place in Greece on March 14.
