It was decided to apply anti-dumping measures on the import of "hot-rolled flat steel" originating from China, India, Japan, and Russia. The Communiqué on the Prevention of Unfair Competition in Imports, prepared by the Ministry of Trade, was published in the Official Gazette and came into force. TURKEY'S DECISION COVERS 4 COUNTRIESAccordingly, the final review investigation conducted for "hot-rolled flat steel" originating from China, India, Japan, and Russia has been completed. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the product imports were dumped and caused harm to the domestic production sector. Therefore, it was decided to apply definitive measures against dumping at rates between 6.1% and 43.31% of the CIF value for the import of the product. CHINA COMPLAINED TO WTO ABOUT TURKEYWhile the repercussions of Turkey's additional tax on cars imported from China continue, last month, the tax imposed on rechargeable hybrid vehicles also drew China's reaction. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce complained to the World Trade Organization (WTO) about Turkey due to the new additional taxes. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce, through its spokesperson, claimed that Turkey has taken 'discriminatory measures' due to the additional customs tax imposed on rechargeable hybrid vehicles and lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO). China alleged that Turkey violated WTO rules. The ministry described the additional taxes as 'a typical protective measure' and demanded that Turkey 'immediately correct its erroneous practices' in compliance with its WTO obligations. THE PROCESS WILL PROCEED WITH CONSULTATIONSThe WTO will examine the trade disputes following China's complaint. It is expected that the WTO, which has initiated the 'dispute mechanism' process, will conduct 'consultations' (the process of obtaining opinions).
