After heavy rainfall in Maltepe, the retaining wall of a building collapsed onto three parked cars with a loud noise during the night. The moment of the collapse was captured by a security camera, and fortunately, no one was injured.

The retaining wall of the six-story building located on Köroğlu Beyi Street in Feyzullah Neighborhood, Maltepe district of Istanbul, collapsed with a loud noise around 02:45 after the heavy rain that occurred.

VEHICLES TURNED INTO SCRAP

With the collapse, the sidewalk also fell onto the road along with the wall, landing on three parked cars. The vehicles sustained significant damage. Upon notification, police, fire brigade, and municipal teams were dispatched to the scene.

While police teams took security measures in the area, municipal teams ensured controlled vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the street. The moment of the collapse was captured by the building's security camera, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

"THERE WAS GREAT FEAR IN THE BUILDING"

Building resident Hilmi Demircioğlu stated, "A little water started to come in, and then it completely collapsed. There had been an excavation work done here before, and the ground was left empty. The cars here were totaled, we are in a very bad situation. There was great fear in the building; our neighbors could have been trapped under the car," he said.
