Belgium is preparing to ban single-use electronic cigarettes.

BAN STARTING FROM JANUARY 1

Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke, who announced that the sale of single-use electronic cigarettes will be banned starting from January 1, stated that cheap electronic cigarettes have become a "health threat" as they are an easy way to encourage young people to smoke and make them nicotine addicts. Vandenbroucke said, "Electronic cigarettes generally contain nicotine, and this leads to nicotine addiction. Nicotine is bad for your health; these are facts."

"IT ALSO HARMS THE ENVIRONMENT"

Vandenbroucke pointed out that the plastic and batteries in single-use designed cigarettes also harm the environment, noting that they create hazardous waste chemicals.

WILL BE THE FIRST COUNTRY TO TAKE THIS STEP AMONG EU COUNTRIES

Belgium will be the first country to take this step among European Union (EU) countries after banning the sale of single-use electronic cigarettes, also known as "vapes," on January 1.
