The school principal who caused an autistic student to roll down the stairs by pushing him in the Turgutlu district of Manisa was taken into custody.
THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
The Turgutlu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation regarding the incident where B.U.U., a 13-year-old autistic 5th-grade student at Irlamaz Refik Pınar Middle School, was pushed down the stairs by the school principal B.G. The camera footage from the school at the time of the incident has been included in the file, and B.G., who was subject to an arrest warrant, has been taken into custody. The suspect's statement procedures at the District Gendarmerie Command are ongoing.
"I CALLED THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL BUT HE DID NOT ANSWER"
Derya Yavuz, the mother of B.U.U., who recounted the events of the day, stated:
"My son went upstairs and opened the classroom door, then the math teacher, Mr. Yunus, came out and said that some children were not in the classroom. He told my son, 'Go call the children downstairs.' While my son was coming down the stairs, he encountered the school principal. Without any conversation, the school principal threw my son down the stairs as he held him. Later, he did not provide any first aid. My child's head got stuck in the railings. He hit every part of his body against the stairs. My son came home like that. His clothes were covered in dust. I asked what happened. He explained the incident. I called the principal on the phone, but he did not answer. Then I called the vice principal. He said he was not aware of the incident. Our psychology has been turned upside down. My child does not want to go to school. I am filing a complaint."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following the media coverage of the footage showing school principal B.G. pushing the autistic B.U.U. down the stairs while he was descending, an administrative investigation was initiated at Irlamaz Refik Pınar Middle School in the rural Irlamaz neighborhood.
The Turgutlu District Governor's Office announced that the school principal had been relieved of his duties.
