Veyis Baylan, who drank an alcoholic beverage given as a promotion by a grocery store in Sarıyer, Istanbul, has passed away. Following the incident, the grocery store owner, Ali M., was arrested and charged with 'manslaughter by negligence.' Baylan's wife stated that her husband fell ill after consuming the alcohol and was taken to the hospital, but despite all interventions, he could not be saved.
In Sarıyer Reşitpaşa, it is claimed that Veyis Baylan, who drank alcohol gifted by the shop owner at home, fell ill and died in the hospital where he was taken. After the incident, the shop owner Ali M. was arrested for "manslaughter by negligence," and a forensic report is awaited to clarify the cause of death.
DRANK GIFT ALCOHOL, FELL ILL
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 11, around 03:45 in the Reşitpaşa neighborhood. According to the information obtained, Veyis Baylan, who lives in the neighborhood, went to the shop on the street. The shop owner gifted alcohol to Baylan here. After drinking the alcohol he received at home, Baylan later fell ill. After the first intervention by the medical teams who arrived at the scene upon notification, Baylan was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Despite all the interventions at the hospital, Veyis Baylan could not be saved and passed away.
"STARTED COUGHING AND VOMITING"
It was learned that Randa B. (43), the wife of the deceased Veyis Baylan, stated in her testimony to the police that her husband drank half of the alcohol gifted to him by the shopkeeper at home around 15:00 on Saturday, January 10, then went to sleep, and later fell ill with complaints of coughing and vomiting while in bed during the night. Randa B. stated in her testimony that she called 112 Emergency Service and that her husband was taken to the hospital, where he later passed away.
GAVE ALCOHOL FROM THE PROMOTIONAL BOX
The Sarıyer Public Order Bureau teams, who launched an investigation into the incident, detained the shop owner Ali M. It was learned that Ali M., whose statement was taken at the police station, said that he gave the alcoholic beverage from the promotional box sent by companies to Veyis Baylan.
THE SHOP OWNER WHO GIFTED THE ALCOHOL WAS ARRESTED
After the procedures were completed at the police station, Ali M. was arrested by the court he was brought to at the courthouse for the crime of 'manslaughter by negligence' and sent to prison. On the other hand, it was learned that a report from the Forensic Medicine Institution is awaited to determine the cause of Veyis Baylan's death.
