Mevlüt Akkar, a father of three, has been making toast in the shop he took over 40 years ago. He opens his shop every day at 06:30 and works until the evening. He sells sausage, cheese, and egg toasts for 10 lira, while the mixed toast is sold for 13 lira.
CHEAPER THAN SIMIT
Akkar, who sells toast even cheaper than the price of simit, said, "I have been making and selling toast here for 40 years. I raised and married off my three children with the money I earned here. I open my shop every day at 06:30, and sometimes I stay open until late in the evening. Due to the rush, sometimes I can't even eat toast myself. Right now, our business is doing well. Our prices are always reasonable, and I try to keep them as low as possible. Everyone is curious about how I make a profit. Making a profit is very easy; if you don't overthink it, you can make a profit. Once you are content, even a 25% profit is enough for a person. You just have to be content. Those who are not content with little will not find much," he said.
