Galatasaray's Vice President Metin Öztürk criticized the referees and the Turkish Football Federation after their match against Başakşehir, which they won 2-1. Öztürk stated, "Galatasaray will wear the real fifth star. They are wearing a fake fifth star. As a suggestion to distract the public, they should wear 7 stars for their establishment in 1907. At least it would give them some prestige," making a reference to Fenerbahçe.
Galatasaray Vice President Metin Öztürk targeted Fenerbahçe and the match referee Atilla Karaoğlan along with VAR referee Yaşar Kemal Uğurlu after their 2-1 away victory against RAMS Başakşehir. Öztürk made striking references to their championship rivals Fenerbahçe.
"VAR IS ALREADY DISGRACED, JUST TAKE A LOOK"
Öztürk stated, "There was a referee trying not to let us play on the field. There was a VAR that did not intervene when it needed to. It is already a disgraced VAR. If you look, you will see. Our unawarded penalty. Looking at Torreira, that yellow card there is also unbelievable," he said.
"A SCANDALOUS FEDERATION"
Calling for the resignation of the TFF, Öztürk said, "No matter how you look at it, there is a scandalous federation. I hope they leave as soon as possible. They should open the way for Turkish football," he expressed.
"WE BECAME CHAMPIONS WITH FOREIGN VAR"
In response to a question about the decision regarding foreign VAR referees, Metin Öztürk said, "We are looking ahead. Last year, we became champions with a foreign VAR. No matter what the decision is, Galatasaray will definitely be the champion in May," he replied.
"THEY WILL PUSH THE SECOND PLACE TEAM"
Metin Öztürk stated, "In tomorrow's match, we will see what they will do to keep the second-place team afloat. Our eyes will be there. They will do everything they can to keep the second team afloat and push them," he explained.
"LET THEM WEAR 7 STARS, THEY WILL HAVE SOME PRIDE"
Metin Öztürk concluded his speech by saying, "Galatasaray will wear the real fifth star. They are wearing a fake fifth star. My suggestion to distract the public is to let them wear 7 stars for their establishment in 1907. At least they will have some pride."
