The statement given by Ümit Karan, who was arrested as part of a drug investigation, has emerged. Karan said, "My friends of 20 years were suddenly portrayed as my dealers. I am here because of the statements of my girlfriend Ş, with whom I have been in contact for about two months. She is probably making accusations against me to clear herself. I have a nightlife, but I do not accept drugs."
In the drug investigation involving celebrities; former football player Ümit Karan, Timuçin Ünal, Ahmet Şaşmaz, Deniz Berk Cengiz, Emre Yalçın, Gökhan Gümüş, Gökmen Gürdeğir, Melis Sabah, Nuray İstek, Emircan Şahin, Murat Dönmez, Orhan Aydın, and Hakan Tunçbilek have been issued arrest warrants.
It has been learned that Karan was arrested on the charge of "selling, offering for sale, giving to others, transporting, transferring, storing, purchasing, accepting, possessing" drugs or stimulants without a license or in violation of the license.

On the other hand, part of Ümit Karan's statement to the judge has emerged. In his statement at the duty court, Karan said:
"My friends of 20 years suddenly became my dealers, and I am here based on the statements of my beloved S, whom I had met for about 2 months before. Probably, he is making a statement against me to clear himself. I have a nightlife, but I do not accept drugs; no one has the right to destroy others' homes, and it should not be so easy for a person to ruin the lives of five others to save himself."
