In the Çay neighborhood of the Çarşamba district in Samsun, a 650-year-old plane tree, registered as a monumental tree by the Trabzon Cultural Heritage Preservation Board in 1991, fell due to adverse weather conditions and strong winds.

After those who saw the tree had fallen reported it to the relevant authorities in the early morning hours, a security cordon was established around the monumental tree. Following the notification to the relevant institutions by the teams of the Çarşamba Municipality Parks and Gardens Directorate, work was initiated to remove the tree from its location.

In a statement made by the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, it was reported that as a result of the examinations conducted on the fallen tree by the teams, the tree's root had completely separated, and it was not possible for it to continue its vitality. It was stated that the procedures for the removal of the tree's registration would be carried out by the Samsun Natural Assets Protection Regional Commission.
