Time Magazine, one of the world's most prestigious publications, has published the eagerly awaited list of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World" for the year. This tradition, which has been ongoing since 1998, brings together influential figures from politics, art, science, sports, and business on a global scale. This year's list includes names that are at the forefront of significant changes happening around the world.
DIVIDED INTO 6 CATEGORIES
Those who qualified to be on the list were divided into six categories. These were "Artists, Icons, Leaders, Giants, Pioneers, and Innovators." The most notable category was 'Leaders.'
SHARA AMONG THE MOST INFLUENTIAL LEADERS
The "Leaders" category particularly drew attention this year with names that are shaping political and social transformations. Trump and his administration occupied a significant place on the list. U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, SpaceX founder Elon Musk, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick were included. The standout name in the category was Syrian Leader Ahmed Shara.
Vladimir Putin was not included among the leaders this time.
Shara was nominated for the list at the suggestion of former U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford. In the biographical article published in Time magazine, Ford stated, "Shara recognized early on that political leadership is as essential as military power to defeat Assad."
ONE OF THE FEW NAMES FROM THE REGION ON THE LIST
In Time's list, besides Shara, only three other names from the Middle East were included. Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof, Moroccan scientist Ismahane Elouafi, and Douglas Emhoff, who raised public awareness for the prisoners in Gaza in the U.S., were also on the list.
Sam Jacobs, the Editor-in-Chief of Time magazine, emphasized that they focused on names that are driving social and political transformations while preparing the list.
