On January 13th, around 22:30, in the troubled district of Esenyurt in Istanbul, three suspects assaulted M.A. (25) who was walking on the street and attempted to force him into a vehicle. The kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the intervention of the locals, while the suspects fled the scene. SUSPECTED YOUNG MEN CAPTUREDM.A. went to the police station and reported that he was attempted to be kidnapped by people he knew previously and that his mobile phone was stolen. In the investigation initiated by the Robbery Bureau, the suspects Ramazan G. (24), Oğuz Can S. (21), and Y.Ç. (17) were taken into custody. "OUR INTENTION WAS TO BEAT HIM, WE ACCIDENTALLY MADE HIM GET INTO THE VEHICLE"During the interrogation at the Public Order Branch, the suspects stated that they knew the victim from a local entertainment venue and that M.A. constantly cursed at them because they were talking to a woman who worked at the venue. It was learned that the suspects claimed in their statements that they saw M.A. walking on the street that day and their intention was to beat him and teach him a lesson. They also stated, "Our intention was not to kidnap him. However, when he resisted us, we accidentally made him get into the minibus. Fearing the reaction of those around us, we let him go and fled the scene." "WE WERE CAUGHT WHILE THINKING OF RETURNING THE PHONE"The suspects also mentioned that they were considering returning the phone they had stolen to M.A., stating, "The mobile phone accidentally fell into the minibus. While we were thinking of returning it, the police caught us." After completing their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.
