The Syrian army continues its pinpoint operations against the positions of the PKK/YPG in the neighborhoods they occupy in Aleppo. Due to the clashes in central Aleppo, educational and official activities have been halted, and 142,000 civilians have been evacuated from the area. Meanwhile, the number of people who have lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the YPG since December 6 has risen to 7.
The Syrian army has begun pinpoint operations against the positions held by the PKK/YPG, which uses the name SDF, in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo. The army forces attacked PKK/YPG elements with light and heavy weapons.
CIVILIANS WERE ASKED TO EVACUATE THE AREA
According to a report by the Syrian Official News Agency SANA, five locations belonging to the organization, three in Sheikh Maqsoud and two in Ashrafiyeh, were shared on a map, and civilians were asked to evacuate the area. After the Syrian army announced that it would launch operations and requested civilians to leave the areas, 142,000 civilians evacuated. The report, based on the Aleppo Central Intervention Committee, stated, "Eighty transport vehicles were assigned, and 12 temporary shelters were opened; 10 of these are within the city of Aleppo, and two are located in the Azaz and Afrin regions. The flow of displaced people continues."
THE NUMBER OF CASUALTIES HAS RISE TO 7
Health officials in Aleppo speaking to SANA provided assessments regarding the situation in the city. It was reported that the number of people killed in attacks carried out by the PKK/YPG since December 6 has risen to 7.
It was stated that 52 people were injured in the attacks, the majority of whom were civilians. It was noted that among the injured were health workers.
CONFLICTS IN ALEPPO
In the PKK/YPG attacks that began in the city center of Aleppo on January 6, 1 soldier and 5 civilians were killed, and 31 people were injured. The Syrian army also sent reinforcements to the contact lines with the PKK/YPG with dozens of tanks and armored personnel carriers.
Due to the conflicts, official activities in the city center were halted, and education in schools and universities was suspended. Flights at Aleppo International Airport were also suspended.
The terrorist organization PKK/YPG carried out an attack on a school and a hospital in the Suryan neighborhood in the evening hours of the same day.
