In a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority, it was noted that some officials of the institution visited the airport for a field inspection. During the visit, it was reported that the operational, technical, and administrative situation was reviewed and mechanisms for the airport's reoperation in accordance with international civil aviation standards were discussed.

"AN IMPORTANT INSTITUTIONAL STEP"

Omar Hosari, the President of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, stated on his social media account, "This is an important institutional step towards unifying airline managements under the state roof and ensuring that airports are operated in accordance with the highest international security and efficiency standards."

Hosari also emphasized that rehabilitation works at Deir ez-Zor Airport are rapidly continuing simultaneously with the takeover of Qamishli Airport, and intensive efforts are underway to make both airports operationally ready. Hosari said, "Our goal is to reopen Qamishli and Deir ez-Zor airports as soon as possible to provide services to the citizens in these regions and to strengthen the stability and connectivity of the civil aviation sector across Syria."

Additionally, the Syrian official news agency SANA reported that a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Interior met with representatives from the SDF on February 8 to discuss the transfer of the airport's management.
