After the collapse of the 61-year Baath regime in Syria, the operations against terrorism carried out by the Syrian National Army, supported by Turkey, continue in the north of the country. THEY SET THEIR SIGHTS ON THE EAST OF THE EUPHRATESThe Syrian National Army, which liberated Tel Rifaat and Manbij from the control of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, has now set its sights on the east of the Euphrates. The operation, which aims to cleanse Kobani and Raqqa of terrorism, is expected to begin shortly. NEXT STOP: KOBANIThe preparations of the SMO for the operation have also attracted the attention of the foreign press. The American New York Times reported that the SMO and Arab tribes close to the opposition have gained dominance in many areas controlled by the YPG, stating that the next stop could be the town of Aynularab (Kobani) on the Turkish border. CLAIM OF "TURKEY HAS DEPLOYED TROOPS AT THE BORDER"Another American newspaper, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), based on high-level U.S. officials, reported that Turkey's new cross-border operation into Syria could be a matter of time. The report claimed that the Turkish and Syrian National Army have amassed troops at the border and that Ankara is preparing for a comprehensive operation. It has been suggested that the activity in the region resembles the situation before the Peace Spring Operation in 2019. There are also claims that civilians in Aynularab have fled to different parts of the country. The operation aims to establish control over the terrorist area in Aynularab, which lies between Manbij and Tel Abyad, both under SMO control. In the WSJ report, it was also suggested that Ilham Ahmed, one of the political leaders of the PYD/YPG terrorist organization, wrote a letter to the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump, requesting pressure to be applied on Turkey. In Ahmed's letter, it was stated that "Turkey's goal is to effectively take control of our lands before you take office. We believe you have the power to prevent this disaster, President Erdoğan has listened to you before and we believe he will heed your call again."
