In Ümraniye, a car driver who got into an argument with a motorcyclist over yielding the right of way came to the neighborhood with the people he had brought along and started a fight. The suspects, unable to find Ferdi G. at home, attacked and assaulted his mother, Günay G. The moments of the attack were captured on camera.
Cemil Meriç Neighborhood, on Monday, September 1, in an incident that occurred, Ferdi G. and his brother, who were riding a motorcycle on İstiklal Street, had an argument with a car driver over a right-of-way issue. After the argument escalated into a fight, the parties separated.
ALLEGATION OF ASSAULT ON THE MOTHER OF THE PERSON HE ARGUED WITH After a while, the car driver came to the house on Meram Street where Ferdi G. lived, accompanied by three other people. The group caused a disturbance by banging on the windows and shouting. Allegedly, at that moment, Ferdi G.'s mother, Günay G., who was at a neighbor's house, went outside to ask what was happening upon hearing the noise and was assaulted by the suspects. With the intervention of the neighborhood residents, the group left the scene. Mother Günay G. went to the hospital to obtain a medical report and filed a complaint against the attackers.
SUSPECTS ATTACKED AGAIN ON THEIR SECOND VISIT After the incident, Ferdi G., who was at work, came home to pick up his children when the large group reappeared. Allegedly, Ferdi G. was attacked in front of his child and threatened with a knife. The events were recorded by a nearby security camera.
"THEY PULLED A KNIFE AND ASSAULTED ME IN FRONT OF MY CHILD" Describing the events, Ferdi G. said, "On the day of the incident, I heard that my mother was slapped after the scuffle. When I was coming home after finishing work in the evening, I saw a group of 20-30 people at the beginning of the street. After passing through them, they ran after me, cursing. I parked the car in front of the door, and they called me, saying, 'We have no business with you.' They pulled a knife and assaulted me in front of my 8-year-old child. When they attacked with a knife, our neighbor intervened. Our only intention was to take the child and go to the police station. They assaulted both my mother and me, and we filed a complaint at the police station. In response to our complaint, neither the camera footage nor the name of the person who attacked with a knife was mentioned. We are complaining, and we want action to be taken," he said.
Ferdi G.'s brother, Ünal G., stated, "While my nephew and brother were riding a motorcycle, there was an argument on the road, and a scuffle occurred. After the incident, the other side gathered and came here to assault my mother, which is confirmed by the camera footage. In this incident, a few people slapped my mother. After that, my mother went to get hospital reports. On her way back, they blocked my brother Ferdi and his family. They chased him all the way to his street with 15-20 people. They assaulted my brother in front of his 8-year-old child and pulled a knife," he said.
