The statement of the truck driver who was arrested in connection with the accident in which 28-year-old engineer Ecem Sultan Çamlı lost her life while riding a scooter to work in Pendik, Istanbul, has emerged. In his statement to the court, truck driver Hasan Faruk Çolak said, "I didn't see her because there was a blind spot, and I didn't feel that I had hit anything while driving the truck. I do not accept the charges against me."

28-year-old Ecem Sultan Çamlı, who works as a systems engineer at DASAL Aviation and Space Technologies located in the Teknopark Istanbul campus in Pendik, set out for work from her home in Kurtköy in the early morning hours. Around 08:45, Çamlı, who was riding a scooter on Osmanlı Boulevard in Yenişehir Neighborhood, was hit by a truck without a trailer driven by Hasan Furkan Çolak (24). Ecem Sultan Çamlı, a graduate of Balıkesir University in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, was dragged for 150 meters before being trapped under the truck. Çamlı, who was seriously injured, passed away in the hospital she was taken to, while the truck driver Çolak, who was taken into custody, was arrested on charges of 'causing death by negligence.' Furkan Ç. stated, "When I got out of the vehicle, I saw a person named Ecem Sultan Çamlı, whom I learned her name due to the incident, lying injured on the ground at the back of the truck. I learned from the statements of those around that I had passed over the scooter she was riding and that the woman had been thrown off." He noted that after the accident, he went to the injured woman and asked about her condition, saying, "She said she was fine but was having difficulty breathing. The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and I waited for the police at the accident scene. When I was taken to the police station for processing, I learned that the woman had passed away, and I believe I had no fault in the occurrence of the accident. The far-right lane was closed, and I was in the leftmost lane because I was going to turn after 40-50 meters. I do not accept the charges against me." The suspect claimed that he did not see the victim because she was in the vehicle's blind spot, stating that he did not feel the impact while driving the truck and that there was no sound or shaking.
