The U.S. has approved the sale of ammunition to Israel. A written statement regarding the approval was made by the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The statement noted that the DSCA submitted the approval to the U.S. Congress today.
A SALE WORTH A TOTAL OF $510 MILLION
According to the statement, the sale requested by Israel, with a total value of $510 million, includes 3,845 KMU-558B/B guidance kits for BLU-109 bombs and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kits for MK 82 bombs. It was also stated that "in addition to precision guidance systems, the sale package includes engineering, logistics, and technical support services to be provided by the U.S. government and contractor firms."
"VITAL FOR U.S. INTERESTS"
The statement emphasized that the sale supports the U.S.'s foreign policy and national security objectives, and that enhancing Israel's security is vital for U.S. interests.
The statement indicated that the sale would increase Israel's capacity to combat current and future threats, and that the package would also enhance Israel's ability to defend its borders, infrastructure, and population centers.
It was also highlighted in the statement that the sale would enhance interoperability with U.S. forces and reflect American support for Israel's defense modernization.
