VEHICLES WAITING IN THE PARKING LOT FOR 6 MONTHS CAN BE SOLD

With the regulation made within the scope of the 9th Judicial Package, the sale of vehicles that have been impounded and not collected by their owners within 6 months has been facilitated.

The sales process of these vehicles has been clarified by the announcement published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. Accordingly, notifications will be made to the owners of vehicles that have been impounded by the police and gendarmerie units. Vehicles not collected within 6 months will be sold by the provincial directorates of environment and urbanization or the national property directorates.

SCRAP VEHICLES WILL BE SOLD SEPARATELY, USABLE ONES WILL BE SOLD TOGETHER

The technical assessment of the vehicles' scrap status will be conducted by appointed mechanical engineers.

Scrap vehicles will be sold to licensed companies through negotiation, provided that they are not sold below the determined minimum price.

Non-scrap vehicles will be directly offered for sale by the administration.

All encumbrances (seizures, pledges, mortgages, etc.) on the vehicle will be lifted during the sale. The ownership of the vehicle will be transferred to the new owner free of tax and fine debts.

14 THOUSAND VEHICLES WILL BE SOLD

Rasim Uluç, President of the Ankara Impound, Parking, and Towing Enterprises Association, shared the details of the implementation and stated:

"There are 14 thousand vehicles in this situation across Turkey, and we anticipate a revenue of approximately 50 billion lira from their sales. Almost every part, except for the seats, is recyclable. Many parts, such as engines, glass, and copper wires, will be reused as raw materials in the industry. This way, we will no longer have to import scrap vehicles from abroad."

REVENUE WILL GO TO THE STATE

The revenue obtained from the sale will first be transferred to any public institutions that are creditors, if any. The remaining amount will be notified to the vehicle owner, and payment will be made if they apply within one month. If no application is made within five years, this money will be recorded as revenue for the Treasury.
