In the case of 23-year-old Hakan Çakır, who was killed while trying to protect his sister and mother in Keçiören, Ankara, a verdict has been announced. The juvenile offenders were sentenced to 25 years for 14-year-old T.Y.Z and 32 years for 17-year-old B.S.Z, while father Cemal Zeynal and Ahmet Emir Zeynal received life imprisonment and 28 years in prison, respectively.

Hakan Çakır (23), who runs a raw meatball shop in the Keçiören district of Ankara, had a dispute on August 10 last year with Ahmet Emir Zeynal (19) and his friend Umut Kılınç (19) over a "right of way" issue while his mother S.Ö. and his sister Melisa Nur Çakır (15) were returning home from the shop. A fight broke out between Hakan Çakır and Zeynal and Kılınç after Melisa Nur Çakır informed her brother. The fight escalated with the involvement of other relatives from both families, resulting in Hakan Çakır being stabbed to death. Cemal Zeynal (45) and his children Ahmet Emir Zeynal, B.S.Z. (17), and T.Y.Z. (14) were arrested.

MINOR CHILD TOOK ALL THE BLAME

During the verdict hearing, the youngest of the defendants, who is under 18, took all the blame. He stated that he was the one who committed the act and that the other defendants were not guilty. His lawyer also requested the release of the minor defendant.

THE DEFENDANTS RECEIVED THE MAXIMUM SENTENCE

The minors involved in the crime were sentenced to 25 years for T.Y.Z, who is 14 years old, and 32 years for B.S.Z, who is 17 years old. Their father, Cemal Zeynal, received a life sentence and 28 years in prison, while Ahmet Emir Zeynal was also given a life sentence and 28 years in prison.

THE PROSECUTION HAD PRESENTED ITS OPINION

During the second hearing of the case, the public prosecutor presented his opinion on the merits, requesting life sentences for some defendants for 'intentional murder' and prison sentences of several years for 'attempted murder.'

Separate prison sentences were also requested for the minors involved in the crime, while an acquittal was requested for three individuals from the Çakır family due to lack of evidence. The court postponed the hearing to allow the parties to prepare their defenses.
