The prosecutor in the trial regarding the murder of Sinan Ateş, the former General Chairman of the Old Idealist Hearths, has announced his opinion on the main case. AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR 3 DEFENDANTS
The prosecutor, who requested the acquittal of the defendants Mehmet Yüce, Erdem Karadeniz, and Osman Bayraktar, who were tried without detention, stated that the defendants Eray Özyağcı, Vedat Balkaya, and Suat Kurt were involved as "joint perpetrators" and demanded aggravated life imprisonment for the murder of Ateş and 13 to 20 years of imprisonment for the attempted murder of the complainant Selman Bozkurt.
Özyağcı was also requested to be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for "unlicensed possession and carrying of a firearm." Doğukan Çep and Tolgahan Demirbaş were requested to be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "instigating the crime" of intentional murder.
TRIAL POSTPONED
The trial was postponed until September 30 for the defendants to present their defense on the main issue. The prosecutor, who requested punishment for similar crimes in the indictment, also requested acquittal for the 3 defendants.
