In the corruption investigation against the Manavgat Municipality, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter, who was seen receiving a bribe in a baklava box, stated in his expression of effective remorse that he had recorded the irregularities. Tüter also made a highly controversial claim regarding Chief Wrestler Ali Gürbüz in his statement.
The investigation initiated by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations of bribery related to hotel renovations, construction permits, and occupancy applications is ongoing.
It has been reached that Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter, who was among those arrested in the bribery, embezzlement, and misappropriation operation targeting the municipality, provided additional statements benefiting from effective remorse.
BRIBERY IMAGES FOUND IN A BAKLAVA BOX Tüter, who was alleged to have received 110,000 euros in bribes from a person named C.C. in a baklava box, stated in his additional statement at the prosecutor's office that he wanted to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse.
In his statement, Tüter explained that after taking office, Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara formed a team from his close acquaintances, noting that Kara appointed his nephew Bulem Şahbaz as his private secretary, his sister-in-law Sıla Ceyhan Berkaya, and his school friend Gülsüm Özer as deputy mayor.
"MAYOR KARA MADE HIS NEPHEW AN ACTIVE PERSON IN THE MUNICIPALITY" Tüter stated that despite having no connection to the municipality, Kara made his nephew Hüseyin Cem Gül a very active person in the municipality, and that he appointed his friend Demir Demir to head an important municipal subsidiary like Toros Et. Tüter claimed, "Hüseyin Cem Gül became influential in every unit of the municipality. Especially, individuals applying for construction start permits, occupancy, renovation permits, and hotel operation permits were always directed to Hüseyin Cem Gül with the president's instructions before the permits were granted. It was impossible to obtain permits without an agreement with Hüseyin Cem Gül."
WAS BRIBERY RECEIVED FOR ILLEGAL STRUCTURES? Tüter alleged that the shops of a hotel in the district were operated in violation of zoning regulations, and that occupancy permits were granted to two other hotels despite it being inappropriate, and that some benefits were obtained from hotel officials through Hüseyin Cem Gül in return.
Chief Wrestler Ali Gürbüz ALLEGATION ABOUT CHIEF WRESTLER ALI GÜRBÜZ THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT A LOT Tüter stated that a vehicle was requested from businessman E.Ö. for hotel construction permission, and that the illegal rooms of the hotel belonging to arrested municipal council member Seval Öz Özgenç were overlooked, saying, "Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara said he would overlook the illegal rooms but asked Özgenç to include Chief Wrestler Ali Gürbüz in the Manavgat Municipality Wrestling Sports. I was present during the conversation. Seval Öz Özgenç also paid 4 million lira to Ali Gürbüz in two installments and included him in the Manavgat Municipality Wrestling Sports."
Tüter claimed that hotel owner M.Ö. renovated the president's office and established a neighborhood office in 2-3 places under the guidance of private secretary Bulem Şahbaz to obtain occupancy, but despite fulfilling these requests, he could not obtain occupancy.
Tüter alleged that illegal construction was overlooked in the shopping center in Kumköy, and that bribes were received by Hüseyin Cem Gül in exchange for not taking action against the illegal rooms of some hotels.
"HE SUBMITTED THE NOTEBOOK" Tüter explained that Hüseyin Cem Gül pressured hotel owners to give their excavation work to Municipal Council Member Mesut Kara, saying, "I had kept notes regarding the irregular transactions. I am submitting this notebook with my consent."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED? As part of the investigation initiated by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations of bribery related to hotel renovations, construction permits, and occupancy applications, 19 suspects, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara, deputy mayors, council members, and businessmen, were arrested, while 16 suspects were released under judicial control.
