The trial of the person who was arrested for throwing acid on the face of a 24-year-old young girl working in a massage parlor in Çanakkale continued. The defendant stated, "I shared the video titled 'He threw acid on his lover's face.' I was drunk that day. I watched the video and shared it. However, there is no special reason for me to share the video." HEARD HER SCREAMS AND CALLED 112 On December 26, 2023, around 16:00, in the massage parlor located in the İsmetpaşa neighborhood of the central district of Çanakkale, it was alleged that Ramazan Akarsu threw acid on the face of 24-year-old Buket Arıyel, an employee of the massage parlor with whom he had a feud. Citizens nearby heard Arıyel's screams and reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Injured Arıyel was taken to Çanakkale Mehmet Akif Ersoy State Hospital after the first intervention by the medical teams. The teams from the Çanakkale Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch captured and detained the suspect Ramazan Akarsu in the Ezine district. After his procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested and sent to prison. It was determined that the person shared a video titled 'He threw acid on his lover's face' on his social media account on December 3, 2023. A case was opened against the arrested Ramazan Akarsu for 'intentional injury with a weapon with monstrous feelings' against Arıyel, and for 'simple injury' against Tuğçe Yavuz, who tried to separate the parties on the day of the incident, at the 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. In the third hearing of the trial held today, the detained defendant Ramazan Akarsu participated in the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). The plaintiff Buket Arıyel was also present in the courtroom. THE TRIAL HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO A LATER DATE During the hearing, Ramazan Akarsu stated, "I am repeating my previous defenses. I was sending money to Buket whenever she needed it. I was also paying her bills. I have always told the court the truth. I am not a person who will escape from the law. On December 3, I shared the video titled 'He threw acid on his lover's face' on Instagram. I was drunk that day. I watched the video and shared it. However, there is no special reason for me to share the video. I want to cover the 239,600 TL worth of medication and medical supplies expenses that Ms. Buket presented to the court. I am guilty; I want to compensate for Buket's damages," he defended. After listening to the parties, the court decided to continue the defendant's detention and postponed the hearing to October 10 to address the deficiencies in the case file.
