As he approached his home, four young people aged between 17 and 20 came up to Hamit Aras and asked him for cigarettes. Aras, who told the young men that he did not smoke, continued on his way, but the four individuals who followed him assaulted him. Aras fell to the ground after being struck on the head. The four young men then took Aras's bag and fled the scene, leaving him motionless on the ground. It was also learned that Hamit Aras was the only child of his family and had lost his father, who was undergoing cancer treatment at Antalya City Hospital, about 2 months ago. Hamit Aras's cousin, İnan Tavşan, stated that all those involved in the incident should be punished, saying, "He was robbed by four people while returning from a friend's house at night. He fell to the ground at that moment and was struck on the head. The 112 teams revived him with CPR and then took him to the nearest hospital. He was then transferred to the Training and Research Hospital. But unfortunately, he could not be saved; his brain death occurred in the evening hours three days later. We learned that two of the suspects were arrested and two were released under judicial control. We are devastated once again; those who committed this crime should not go unpunished. We want justice," he said.
