Shocking details have emerged following the murder of high school vice principal Mahir Çoğaç in his car in Kocaeli. It is alleged that Çoğaç was killed in a "blood feud" after his brother killed crime organization leader Bedirhan Bayğara in Adana four years ago. Loved by his family, colleagues, and students, Çoğaç lived a crime-free life in Kocaeli with his family. Now, all that remains is his grieving family.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 26th, around 09:00 in Çayırova Mahallesi Fatih Caddesi. Mahir Çoğaç, the vice principal of Fevzi Çakmak Anadolu High School, was shot in the head while fastening his seatbelt in his car. The suspect approached the car and shot Çoğaç with a handgun. Covered in blood, Çoğaç lost his life, while the suspect fled the scene.
KILLER CAPTURED
As part of the extensive investigation launched into the incident, detectives from the Kocaeli Police Department's Homicide Bureau pursued the killer and other suspects believed to be involved in the crime. The suspect who shot Çoğaç and the person who assisted him were apprehended in Dudullu, Ümraniye, Istanbul. It has been reported that there have been other arrests related to the incident. Mahir Çoğaç, a married father of two, was brought to the school where he had served for 18 years for his funeral, and final respects were paid. Educator Mahir Çoğaç was bid farewell with tears by his family, loved ones, colleagues, and students.
TREACHEROUS TRAIL LEADS TO BAYĞARA
The trail of the murder led to another crime committed in Adana in 2020. It was reported that Y. Çoğaç, Mahir Çoğaç's brother, was the person who allegedly shot Bedirhan Bayğara, the former leader of the organized crime group "Bayğaralar," in a cafe where he was sitting with his girlfriend, resulting in his death. It is claimed that Mahir Çoğaç's murder is connected to the killing of Bedirhan Bayğara and was carried out as part of a blood feud. Y. Çoğaç, also known as "The Ghost," has not been captured since the incident. It is alleged that the Bayğara family, seeking revenge, set a trap for teacher Mahir Çoğaç as they were unable to reach anyone from the Çoğaç family.
BROTHERS INVOLVED IN MULTIPLE CRIMES
M. Çoğaç, another brother of Mahir Çoğaç, was reportedly the leader of the organized crime group known as the "Çoğaçlar Gang" in Adana in the 2000s and was involved in various crimes. S. Çoğaç, on the other hand, was arrested and tried in 2002 for "armed gang membership, murder, and assault."
ESCAPING GANGS TO BECOME A TEACHER
Mahir Çoğaç graduated from the Turkish Language and Literature Department at Mersin University in 2000 and has been working at Fevzi Çakmak Anadolu High School since 2006. He was loved and respected by his colleagues and students, and it was revealed that he lived a crime-free life in Kocaeli with his family. Mahir Çoğaç, who was unjustly ambushed and killed, leaves behind his tearful children and wife.
