Turkish National Team Responsible Ceyhun Kazancı made statements about the foreign player rule that has caused controversy in Turkish football.

"THE RULE WILL NOT CHANGE CONSTANTLY"

Speaking to NTV, Ceyhun Kazancı said, "We do not want a constantly changing rule. We believe that it should be thoroughly examined from all aspects and a decision should be made based on that examination, and it should be long-term. The rule that changes every year also puts our clubs in difficulty. There was no change in the number of players this year. Only the number of Turkish players on the field has changed. This year, it was kept at 14 in order to prevent some clubs from facing difficulties and to allow them to keep the squad for justified termination" he said.

"WE WILL MAKE A DECISION NEXT YEAR"

The National Teams Responsible continued his speech by saying, "Now, looking at the foreign player limit and number unilaterally is not enough. First, we need to improve the pool of Turkish players. We need to raise the playing time and quality of players who come from lower academies and play in lower leagues. We do not want to have 3 players on the field just because we have to. This is not a one-day thing. It can be achieved with the infrastructure project and the expansion of the lower pool. Even if there were unlimited foreign players, I do not think it would have a negative impact on the national team. I think that 14 is sufficient in the transition period. We will definitely make a decision starting from the next season, and this decision will be long-term. Our goal is not to make a one-year decision" he stated.
