According to a report in the Belgian press, no suitable buyer has yet been found for the Audi brand's production facility in Brussels, which belongs to the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen Group. Despite Audi's discussions with 26 potential buyers, including manufacturers and suppliers, none of them have come forward with concrete offers that would ensure the job security of the 3,000 employees and allow operations to continue. DEMANDS HAD DROPPED AT THE BRUSSELS FACTORYThe Audi brand, which is part of the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen Group, announced in July that due to a drop in demand at its Brussels factory, where the luxury electric car model Q8 is produced and approximately 3,000 people are employed, it would undergo restructuring, and production of these models would continue in Mexico. Audi management reported at the beginning of September that no models had been allocated for production at the Brussels factory by the Volkswagen Group. EMPLOYEES HAD SEIZED THE KEYS TO THE CARSThis situation had disturbed factory employees and unions. The employees had not reported to work and had seized the keys to the completed cars. Audi had recently begun searching for new investors for the Brussels factory, which is expected to close soon and has been experiencing issues between management and employees.
