In Avcılar, a 60-year-old man threw acid in the face of a 44-year-old woman who rejected his proposal for a meeting. The woman suffered severe burns on her body and lost both of her eyes. The attacker was captured and arrested in Düzce.

On December 19, 2024, around 07:00, horror unfolded in the Yeşilkent neighborhood of the Avcılar district in Istanbul. According to the information obtained, a suspect named Ş.K. (60) offered to meet a woman named Ş.S. (44), who is 16 years younger than him.



LOST BOTH EYES



The woman rejected the man who had feelings for her. The rejected man threw acid on the woman's face as she was leaving home to go to work. While the woman experienced horror, the man fled the scene after the incident. The woman screamed for help from the surrounding citizens. It was determined that the woman was taken to the hospital and had lost both of her eyes, and it was learned that she had serious burns on her body.



ATTACKER ARRESTED



Upon receiving the report, police teams began working and started examining the security cameras in the area. Investigations were deepened around the last point where the suspect was seen on the cameras. In the interviews conducted with the woman named Ş.S., it was determined that the man had wanted to meet her 6 months ago, but she had rejected him. The woman stated that the man was persistent in wanting to meet and had come to her address repeatedly, threatening and insulting her. It was understood that the woman had not previously filed a complaint with the police. During the ongoing investigations, the suspect was captured and taken into custody in Düzce on February 26. The suspect was arrested by the judicial authorities to which he was referred and sent to prison. Meanwhile, moments when the suspect threw acid on the unfortunate woman's face and then fled were captured by security cameras.
