In the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul, a gang threatened a businessman by demanding protection money and carried out an armed attack on his business, throwing a hand grenade. The business owner stated that he reported the terrifying moments he experienced and the constant threats to the police.

In the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul, a business that resisted paying protection money was attacked with a hand grenade. Those moments were captured on camera.

IT TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE

A gang that targeted a car dealership in Arnavutköy became a nightmare for businessman K.B. According to allegations, a few months ago, gang members used the dismissal of an employee named N.Ö. as an excuse to demand 10 million TL in protection money from the businessman. The businessman, who refused to pay the gang, had his business shot at multiple times. He constantly received threatening messages.

THEY THREW A HAND GRENADE INTO THE BUSINESS AND FLED

After the armed attacks he suffered, gang members threw a hand grenade into the business and fled. Following the attack, the businessman was threatened again by a call from a number registered in a foreign country. The businessman, who was called, was threatened with, "Even your state cannot catch us, the next attack will be at your home." The attacks that took place were recorded second by second by security cameras. It was learned that police teams are continuing their efforts to capture the gang members.

"WHAT MORE WILL HAPPEN, WILL THEY FIRE A MISSILE, WILL THEY USE AN ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WILL USE"

The businessman Kemal Bayrak, who continues to be threatened by the gang, stated about his experiences, "'You have dismissed the person working with you, you will pay 10 million TL' I received a phone call like that, and that night my workplace was shot at. I reported the situation to the police, and on the second day, I received another threatening call, and that night my workplace was shot at again. After that, these calls continued constantly. I received threats through foreign numbers calling me, saying 'the next bullet will come to your head.' We took the matter to court, but during this process, we learned that the same individuals were demanding money from 6 other businesses in Arnavutköy using the same excuse and trying to extort them. A few days ago, I received another call. 'We have bombed your gallery, now it's your home,' they said, and they had taken a picture of my house and marked the natural gas box. The next day, when I came, I saw that my workplace had indeed been bombed. At this point, the situation has escalated to the use of weapons and threats, and now hand grenades are involved. Our safety is under threat, not just mine but also my family's safety. Many businesses in Arnavutköy are currently in this situation and are victims. What more will happen, will they fire a missile, will they use an anti-aircraft gun, I don't know what they will use," he expressed.

"WORK ON CAPTURING THEM IS CONTINUING"

The business's lawyer, Ali Ercan Kalay, stated, "My client has been subjected to an armed attack. There is approximately 5 million TL worth of damage at the workplace. A process related to this issue had been initiated. We learned that 4 of the suspects who carried out the attack on my client have been captured, but efforts to capture the other identified suspects are ongoing. Police teams have taken necessary precautions at my client's home and workplace on a 24-hour basis. Necessary work is continuing," he said.
