In Istanbul Fatih, the "Sarayburnu Fatihleri" welcomed 2026 by entering the cold sea. The Sarayburnu Fatihleri, who entered the icy water to greet the new year, wished for peace and health in 2026.
On the Sarayburnu Coast in the Fatih district of Istanbul, a group known as the 'Sarayburnu Fatihleri', who enter the sea regardless of the cold or hot, welcomed the year 2026 in the same way.
THEY JUMPED INTO THE WATER LIKE ICE
After counting down from 10, the group members threw themselves into the cold waters. The group, swimming in the icy water, wished for health, peace, and happiness for the world in the new year.
"WE WANT A WORLD WHERE 8 BILLION PEOPLE LIVE IN PEACE, WITHOUT WEAPONS OR EXPLOSIONS"
Yüksel Sönmez, one of the group members who welcomed the year 2026 by entering the sea, said, "We are the Sarayburnu Fatihleri. We have been swimming here for years. As we do every year, we will again finish the year 2025 here and enter 2026. We will enter the water shortly. We want a world filled with peace, happiness, tranquility, and beauty. May God grant everyone health and well-being. May everyone be happy. Let us live for peace and beauty in this world. We want a world where 8 billion people live in peace, without weapons or explosions. Happy New Year."
"WE HOPE 2026 WILL PASS WITHOUT WAR"
Zihni Ademoğlu, one of the group members, stated, "We are from the Sarayburnu Fatihleri. We are entering the year 2026. Since 2025 passed in a state of war, we hope that 2026 will pass without war. We want a world where children do not die. From here, I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2026."
"PEOPLE WITHOUT THE HABIT SHOULD NOT ENTER COLD WATER"
Ramazan Değer, one of the group members who expressed his desire for peace and brotherhood, said, "First of all, we want peace and brotherhood in the world. Let this be my advice to all swimmer friends. People without the habit should not enter cold water. Since we have been swimming for years, we are accustomed to cold water. We enter the sea in this cold weather. May 2026 be good for all of us."
Ahmet Ünsal, a group member who welcomed the year 2026 by entering the cold water, stated, "We are the Sarayburnu Fatihleri. We always swim. We are all together here. We wish for many happy years."
