Following this, fire and crime scene investigation teams were called to the scene. The fire teams conducted an examination in the house and the dug tunnel.
Despite the investigations, the source of the smell could not be identified, and the homeowner, T.D., was taken to the police station for questioning.
"IT'S UNDER KASTAMONU CASTLE"
Neighborhood resident Necdet Gül, who stated that the smell had been present in the street for about 4 days, said, "The place we are in is under Kastamonu Castle. This is a dead-end street. Only people can pass through here; vehicles cannot enter. This is a place that no one visits, walks through, or sees. I did the tree and area cleaning in this region 3-4 years ago. Now this incident has occurred.
While sitting in the open area of the tea house, a bad smell has surrounded us for the past 3-4 days. We became suspicious of this smell. There were other friends with us, and there were people sitting in the café. We also informed our muhtar about the situation. Our muhtar contacted the necessary authorities and provided information. After that, police officers came and conducted an investigation here. Right now, we are waiting; we do not know what the issue is. No one has given us any information. We are also curious about what is happening and are waiting for news," he said.
