Thunderstorm warning for Istanbul from AKOM

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Istanbul and surrounding provinces. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) also announced that cool and rainy weather will prevail in Istanbul on Sunday.

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued consecutive showers warnings for Istanbul and its surrounding provinces.



THUNDERSTORM SHOWERS WILL BE EFFECTIVE



According to the latest evaluations, the northwestern regions of the country will have partly cloudy and occasionally very cloudy weather. Local showers and thunderstorm showers are expected in the Marmara Region (except for Çanakkale), the Aegean Coast, the Western Black Sea (except for Sinop), and the surroundings of Kars and Hakkari. It is predicted that the rainfall will be locally strong, especially on the western Black Sea coasts and in Istanbul. In addition, it is expected that the wind will blow strongly from the south and west directions at speeds of 40-60 km/h at times along the Mediterranean coasts.



On the other hand, generally clear and sunny weather will prevail in other regions.

In the statement made by the Center, it was reported that cool and rainy weather expected to come from the Balkans will be effective in the city starting from Sunday, and temperatures will decrease by 6-8 degrees suddenly.



The warning states, "Intermittent showers and occasionally strong thunderstorm showers are expected to occur throughout the province starting from Sunday morning. Due to the expected rainfall until Sunday evening, it is important for our citizens to be cautious and take precautions against possible negative effects."
