Tuncer Bakırhan's statement about Bahçeli: 'He deserves recognition.'

The reactions to the call made by MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli to the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan continue.

Most recently, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan evaluated Bahçeli's remarks in statements he made to GazeteDuvar. Bakırhan, who stated, "It is certain that those words were not said out of the blue," said, "He said very important things. We must give him his due. Many positive concepts such as the right to hope, democracy, and politics were actually used, and definitions were made. We tried to understand."

"THERE IS CONSENSUS, BUT NO CLARITY"

Bakırhan also mentioned that he believes there is a consensus between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Bahçeli, but he thinks there is no clarity in the process.

RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS OF A SPLIT IN THE ALLIANCE

Bakırhan stated that there is no tension in the People's Alliance due to Bahçeli's remarks, saying, "During this 45-day period, while starting, there may be nuances among the coalition partners, but I believe that they are all aware of the entire process and that there is a role-sharing among them."

After the process that began with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party members at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Bahçeli called on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to "dissolve his organization"; Bahçeli stated, "If the isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party Group Meeting in the TBMM, and proclaim that terrorism has completely ended and that the organization has been dissolved."
