Turhan Çömez's statement on the Narin Güran murder:

03.10.2024 15:31

The Deputy Group Chairman of the İYİ Party and Balıkesir MP, Turhan Çömez, spoke about the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in his speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Stating that many mistakes were made during the investigation of the evidence, Çömez said, "This is a terrible mistake! This is called betrayal."

İYİ Party Balıkesir Member of Parliament Turhan Çömez, in his statement to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding the investigation of Narin Güran, raised critical questions. Stating that there were some images but they were not shared, Çömez said that evidence related to the murder was destroyed.

"TO ME, THIS IS A BETRAYAL"

"It was found one and a half kilometers away and submerged in water. There were camera images; there was footage of the red vehicle that carried the body, that is, the bag. For exactly 19 days, these images were not shared, and no action was taken. Why? This needs to be accounted for. Again, the vehicle that carried Narin's lifeless body was taken first, and small samples were taken, claiming that they contained some information and documents, and were given to the family. We have doctor friends among us, they will know what this means. It is a terrible mistake, an incredible mistake from a forensic perspective. To me, this is not a mistake, it is negligence, even betrayal.

"CHANNELS DRAINED INTO THE STREAMBED"

"The streambed where Narin was found. The DSİ is working there. Instead of draining the water from the streambed, instead of changing the direction of the water, they are draining the water from the channels into the streambed."

Later, as his speaking time at the podium was over, Turhan Çömez continued his speech by taking his place. He drew attention to the bite marks on Narin's brother's arm. Arguing that evidence was destroyed here, he said: The bite marks on Narin's brother's arm. The brother was taken days later. First to Diyarbakır, then to Istanbul. I say this again as a physician; after the wound on his arm healed, that is, after the epithelial tissue repaired itself, all information, documents, and evidence were destroyed before the brother was sent to Istanbul. Who is the one who made this mistake? If this is a mistake, it is an incredible mistake, but if there is something else, it definitely needs to be pursued, and action must be taken on this.

"NARIN WAS MURDERED BY STRANGULATION"

"I conducted the initial examination for the autopsy and reviewed those reports in detail. Unfortunately, Narin was clearly murdered by strangulation."
