Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Down 0.23% At Wednesday's Close

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,413.54 points on Wednesday, down 0.23% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,421.31 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 3.28 points from Tuesday's close of 1,416.82 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,408.21 points, while its daily high was 1,432.13 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($123.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 19.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).

A total of 30 stocks on the index rose, 67 fell, and three remained unchanged compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by carmaker Ford Otosan, private lender Garanti BBVA, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Shares of Ford Otosan performed the best, rising 9.97%, while stocks of another private lender Albaraka Turk dropped the most, 6.7%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,766.25 by market close, up from $1,762.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was down 0.1% to $83.34 per barrel as of 6.42 p.m. local time (1542GMT).
