Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up At Close

Turkey's benchmark stock index on Wednesday closed at 120,048.74 points, up 0.21% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 119,940.00 points. As of the daily close, it earned 250.91 points from Tuesday's close of 119,797.82 points.

During the day, the index's lowest level was 119,229.22 points, and the highest was 121,369.76.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 831.2 billion Turkish liras ($137.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 19.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion).

On the third transaction day of the week, 48 stocks on the index rose, 44 were down, and eight were flat, compared to Friday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by defense giant Aselsan, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and state-lender Halkbank.

Aselsan was the best performer, with its shares up 13.09%, while petrol company Turcas dropped the most, down 9.22%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,566.40 by market close, down from $1,569.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $56 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
