Two 13-year-old cousins who went outside to ride their bicycles in Manisa fell into a water pit formed in a marble quarry. As the lifeless bodies of the two cousins were retrieved from the water, their grieving family went into a state of shock.

A tragic incident occurred around 12:30 in the Alaşehir district of Manisa. Yusuf Eyüp Kaya (13) and Kadir Kaya (13), who reside in the Caberburhan neighborhood, took advantage of the nice weather and went out for a bike ride. The children took a break after riding their bikes in the marble quarry area belonging to İstaş Mermer, located in the Baltaşı area of the neighborhood.

DOVE INTO THE WATER TO HELP HIS COUSIN

While resting by the water that had accumulated in a large pit where the marbles were extracted, Yusuf Eyüp Kaya suddenly fell into the puddle. Kadir Kaya, who wanted to help his cousin struggling in the approximately 2-meter deep puddle, also jumped into the water, but the children disappeared from sight after a while.

BOTH OF THEIR LIFLESS BODIES WERE RECOVERED FROM THE WATER

Upon receiving reports from nearby citizens who witnessed the incident, AFAD, fire brigade, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The lifeless bodies of the children were retrieved from the water by AFAD teams, and the corpses were taken to the Alaşehir State Hospital morgue.

FAMILIES EXPERIENCED NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS

The grieving father, Zeki Kaya, who heard about the incident and experienced a nervous breakdown, said, "Our children went out to ride bikes. Yusuf Eyüp Kaya fell into the water, and Kadir went in to save him, but neither of them could get out."

"SAFETY MEASURES SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN"

Uncle Seyit Han Dursun stated, "The owner of the business has not taken any safety measures. A pond has formed here. Either this water should be drained or safety measures should be taken around it. Our lives were lost, we are complaining," he said. The gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the incident.
