An incident that drew reactions occurred in Manisa. According to information obtained from Kavaklıdere Şehit Murat Kartal Middle School in the Alaşehir district, an 8th-grade student, Y.G., started a discussion when his teacher warned him for disrupting the peace of the math class.

RELATIVES OF THE STUDENT ATTACKED

After leaving the classroom, the school principal Nihat Özşengezer and the former principal Esat Savaş asked Y.G. where he was going. While talking to Y.G. in the schoolyard, the principal and the former principal were attacked by Y.G.'s brother M.G. and his relatives. Gendarmerie teams who arrived at the scene upon notification intervened to separate the fight. After the incident, Y.G.'s brother M.G., who was detained, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.

TEACHERS CONDEMNED THE ATTACK

Following the incident, the union management and members gathered under the leadership of Turkish Education-Sen Alaşehir Representative Osman Suat Çete held a press conference to condemn the attack. Çete stated, "Educational institutions should be safe and respectful areas where individuals equipped with knowledge are raised. However, news of increasing attacks on teachers and school administrators in recent years has created serious concern in society. An attack on a school principal is not only an attack on an individual but also an attack on education, discipline, and the future," he said.

Çete emphasized that violence against educators can never be accepted under any circumstances, stating, "The solution is not only to increase security measures but also to strengthen healthy communication among families, teachers, students, and administrators. Protecting educational institutions is protecting our future," he added.
