UN Chief, Turkish Foreign Minister Discuss Ukraine, Regional Developments

Guterres expresses appreciation for Turkiye's support to multilateralism, contributions to UN, says statement.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met Wednesday with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in New York, the UN chief's office said in a statement.

"The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Turkey's support to multilateralism and contributions to the United Nations," it said.

Guterres and Cavusoglu also exchanged views on the war in Ukraine and other regional developments.

"They also discussed developments related to Syria, Libya, Afghanistan as well as Cyprus," said the statement.

Cavusoglu is in New York to attend the Global Food Security Call to Action ministerial meeting to be hosted by his US counterpart Antony Blinken and hold bilateral meetings. -
