One person was killed and 13 were injured in a blaze at a gas-fired power plant near Moscow, Russian officials said on Thursday.
The casualty was discovered while firefighters were trying to contain the blaze in the city of Mytishchi, some 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from Moscow, the Center for Emergency Medicine said in a statement.
Of the injured, one person was hospitalized, the statement added.
According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, the fire has been put out, leaving teams to deal with the aftermath.
The blaze spread out over a territory of 200 square meters (2,153 square feet) and produced a column of fire towering 50 m (164 ft) high, said the ministry.
The city of Mytishchi is currently partially without power due to the fire. -
