In response to rising tensions in the Middle East and Iran's missile attacks, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken action to strengthen its defense line. It has been learned that the UAE administration has requested the delivery of Cheongung-II air defense systems, produced under a previously signed $3.5 billion agreement with South Korea, to be expedited.
Particularly, the increasing risk of conflict in the region by March 2026 has led the UAE to demand not only new batteries but also additional preventive missile supplies for critical stocks.
SEQUENTIAL MEETINGS BY THE UAE MINISTER
On the other hand, the UAE's Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Mohammed al-Mazrouei, held meetings with defense ministers from various countries to enhance joint defense cooperation.
In a statement made by the UAE Ministry of Defense on the social media platform of the US-based company X, it was stated that "Minister Mazrouei conducted phone conversations with defense ministers from many friendly countries to address regional developments, strengthen defense partnerships, and develop areas of joint defense cooperation."
During the meetings, it was noted that Mazrouei also addressed "Iran's open attacks against the UAE."
The statement recorded that the countries Mazrouei spoke with included France, Italy, Greece, and South Korea.
