The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced that Baghdad International Airport has been temporarily closed due to a technical malfunction.

Ministry Spokesperson Meysem al-Safi made a statement regarding the issue to the Iraqi official news agency INA.

"The temporary closure of Baghdad International Airport occurred as a preventive measure taken due to an urgent technical malfunction," said Safi, noting that expert technical teams have begun troubleshooting and repair work.

"THERE IS NO INTERNATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE"

Safi expressed that the airport would reopen for flights within the next few hours after the completion of the work and the final technical checks, and stated that they rejected claims regarding any local or international security issues preventing the reopening of the airport.

TURKISH AIRLINES FLIGHTS DIVERTED TO OTHER AIRPORTS

On the other hand, three flights belonging to Turkish Airlines, AJet, and Pegasus, which were planned to go to Baghdad, are being diverted to different directions due to the current conditions. It has been learned that the planes will land at alternative airports.
