US Stocks Open Higher On Friday

VIX volatility index, known as fear index, down almost 1% to 28.77.

The US stock market opened higher on Friday, trying to recover from the previous day's losses after the Federal Reserve's aggressive rate hike fueled investors' recession fears.

The Dow was up 253.02 points to 30,930.38 at 9.30 a.m. EDT (1330GMT). The S&P 500 rose 35.58 points to 3,831.35 at the time.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq added 117.13 points to reach 11,349.49.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 0.96% to 28.77 as of 9.39 a.m. EDT (1339GMT)

The dollar index dropped 0.11% to 104.04 and the 10-year US Treasury yield gained 0.74% to 3.093%.

Precious metals were down, with gold falling 0.2% to $1,826.20, and silver losing 1.4% to $20.74.

Crude prices were up, as global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $111.13 for a 0.98% increase, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $105.22 – a 0.92% increase. -
