In the last days of June, while those who made weekend plans wondered about the weather on June 29-30, the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) made an announcement. In many cities where temperatures are above seasonal norms, storms will be effective during the day. While showers are expected in some cities including Istanbul and Ankara, a yellow-coded warning has been issued for 6 cities due to the upcoming storm. HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE TODAY?According to the latest forecasts by the General Directorate of Meteorology; showers and thunderstorms are expected locally in the inland areas of the Mediterranean, the central and eastern parts of the Black Sea, as well as in Kırklareli and the Black Sea coasts of Istanbul. It is predicted that Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Eskişehir, and the southern parts of Ankara, as well as Sinop, Samsun, Erzurum, Kars, Iğdır, and the eastern parts of Van, will experience showers and thunderstorms, while other areas will have partly cloudy and clear skies. Temperatures will be above seasonal norms in some southern and western regions, and around seasonal norms in other areas. The wind will generally be light from the north, occasionally moderate, and will blow strongly (50-80 km/h) in the Marmara and Northern Aegean regions. YELLOW-CODED WARNING FOR 6 CITIESThe General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a yellow-coded warning for 6 cities in the Aegean and Marmara regions due to the expected strong storm. The warned cities are as follows: Aydın, Balıkesir, Bursa, Çanakkale, İzmir, and Manisa.
