The initial data for the July raise shows that there is currently no inflation difference for civil servants and retirees, while expectations suggest that the salary increase is expected to range between 7% and 10.86%.
Civil servants and retired civil servants are now focused on the salary increase to be made in July, following the 18.6% raise and a flat increase of 1000 TL at the beginning of the year. With the latest inflation data announced, the first calculations regarding the raise rates have also started to emerge.
THERE IS CURRENTLY NO INFLATION DIFFERENCE
Under the collective agreement, civil servants will receive a 7% raise in July. However, if the 6-month inflation exceeds 11%, the resulting difference will also be added to the salaries. According to the inflation data announced in March, which was 1.94%, there is currently no inflation difference for civil servants and retired civil servants. If inflation exceeds 0.87% in the coming months, the difference will start to occur.
FIRST SCENARIO FOR THE LOWEST SALARIES
Considering only the 7% raise, the lowest civil servant salary will rise from 61,890 TL to 66,183 TL. The lowest retired civil servant salary will be at the level of 29,692 TL.
ECONOMISTS' SCENARIO: HOW FAR WILL THE RAISE LIMIT GO?
According to economists' expectations, the March inflation is expected to be around 2.40%. If this prediction materializes, the three-month inflation will be 10.54%, and there will be no inflation difference. If inflation reaches 3%, an inflation difference of 0.16% will occur, and the total raise rate will rise to 7.17%. In this case, the lowest civil servant salary will increase to 66,327 TL, and the retired civil servant salary will rise to 29,778 TL.
5-MONTH DATA INDICATES HIGHER RAISES
According to the Central Bank's expectations, the 5-month inflation could reach 14.32%. In this case, an inflation difference of 2.99% will occur, and the total raise rate will rise to 10.2%. If the 6-month inflation occurs at the level of 15%, the total raise rate will increase to 10.86% with an inflation difference of 3.6%. In this scenario, the lowest civil servant salary could rise to 68,203 TL, while the retired civil servant salary could reach 30,788 TL.
