President Erdoğan announced the incentives to be implemented to prevent the decline in population during the promotional program organized for the 2025 Family Year. According to the first incentive announced by Erdoğan, young couples who are about to get married will be provided with an interest-free loan support of 150,000 lira with a four-year term and two years of grace period. The second incentive will be the increase in birth assistance provided per child. A one-time birth assistance of 5,000 TL will be given for the first child. Families having a second child will receive 1,500 TL per month, while families having a third child will receive 5,000 TL per month. INITIATED IN THE EARTHQUAKE REGIONAccording to the news reported by Habertürk; the pilot implementation of the Young Couples Support Project, which was initiated to encourage young people to marry, started in April last year in the districts of Nurdağı and İslahiye in Gaziantep, as well as in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, which were affected by the earthquake. The necessary conditions to benefit from the interest-free marriage loan support of 150,000 lira with a four-year term and two years of grace period are as follows: - Must be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 29 as of the application date (must not have turned 30).
- The average total income of the couple for the last 6 months and the total income for the last month must not exceed 2 minimum wages...
- As of the application date, there must be at least 2 months and at most 6 months left until the official marriage date.
- Must commit to benefit from the education and counseling services that the Ministry will provide before and after marriage.
- Even if pardoned, there should be no conviction for crimes against the security of the state, constitutional order, sexual crimes, or confirmed convictions for drug trafficking or use.
HOW TO APPLY?Applications for marriage loan support can be made through e-Government. Young people meeting the conditions outside the earthquake-affected provinces can start applying from today. Young people who use the 150,000 lira loan in January will make their first payment in January 2027. They will pay 6,250 TL each month. The limitation of marriage loan support to 29 years is considered insufficient for today. Increasing the age limit could contribute to achieving the better purpose of the support. CONDITIONS FOR BIRTH ASSISTANCEBirth assistance has been implemented since 2015. A one-time birth assistance of 300 TL is provided for the first child, 400 TL for the second child, and 600 TL for the third and subsequent children. To benefit from the current birth assistance, either the mother or the father must be a Turkish citizen, and the child must be born alive. The family's income status is not taken into account. Those who have been later removed from Turkish citizenship with permission can also benefit from birth assistance. A law will need to be enacted for birth assistance. A one-time birth assistance of 5,000 lira will be provided for the first newborn child. When a family has a second child, 1,500 lira will be deposited into the mother's account each month. For the birth of a third child and subsequent children, 5,000 lira assistance will be provided each month. For example, a family that currently has two children will receive 5,000 lira assistance each month when their third child is born. Regardless of their status, public employees will apply for birth assistance through their working institution. Those who do not work in the public sector can apply for birth assistance through e-Government.
