Following the announcement that the United States would send a delegation to Russia for a ceasefire, an interesting move came from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin, wearing a military uniform, visited a command center in the Kursk region, which is under the control of the Ukrainian army. While the world wondered why Putin was wearing camouflage, the Kremlin stated, "Putin deemed this necessary."

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the command center in the Kursk region, part of which is under the control of the Ukrainian army, wearing a military uniform.

According to a video shared by the Kremlin, Putin, who visited the region for the first time since Ukraine entered on August 6, 2024, arrived at a command center in military camouflage.

"PUTIN DEEMED THIS NECESSARY"

The Kremlin issued a last-minute statement regarding Putin's visit to Kursk in military uniform. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated, "Putin deemed this necessary."

"UKRAINIAN ARMY LOSSES EXCEED 67 THOUSAND"

Putin received a briefing from the Chief of the General Staff of Russia, Valeriy Gerasimov, regarding the situation in the region. Gerasimov reported that more than 1,100 square kilometers, corresponding to 86% of the area in the Kursk region that the Ukrainian army entered last August, has been liberated. He noted that in the last 5 days, 24 settlements and an area of 259 square kilometers have been reclaimed, and that the losses of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region have exceeded 67 thousand soldiers.

Chief of General Staff Gerasimov stated, "Kiev wanted to create a springboard in the Kursk region and make the situation a bargaining chip. Kiev's plans in Russian territory ended in failure."

Gerasimov indicated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Kursk region are surrounded, isolated, and continue to be systematically destroyed, stating, "Russian troops continue to liberate the Russian region with the goal of reaching the state border as soon as possible."

"KURSK REGION MUST BE COMPLETELY LIBERATED"

Putin began his speech by thanking the Russian military units and commanders who repelled the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region.

Stating that the Ukrainian military units in the Kursk region must be defeated as soon as possible, Putin said, "The Kursk region must be completely liberated, and we must restore the state border to its former state. Of course, we should consider creating a security zone along the state border in the future."

"THOSE CAPTURED WILL BE TREATED AS TERRORISTS"

Putin noted that Ukrainian soldiers who commit crimes against civilians and oppose Russian security forces on the territory of the Kursk region are considered "terrorists" under Russian law, and legal proceedings have been initiated against these individuals.

Stating that Russia will treat the prisoners captured in the Kursk region as 'terrorists', Putin said, "We treat all people humanely, and we must continue to do so. To everyone who falls into our hands. At the same time, I would like to remind you that foreign mercenaries do not fall under the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War."

Thanking the units that recently liberated settlements in the Kursk region from Ukrainian soldiers, Putin said, "I sincerely hope for the unconditional fulfillment of all combat missions faced by our troops and for the complete liberation of the Kursk region from the enemy in the near future."
