In Beyoğlu, a woman went to a jewelry store with her boyfriend and, unable to buy a gold tiara worth 250,000 lira, returned to the same store the next day. Using the excuse of taking a photo, she took the tiara and fled through the streets, evading capture. The woman, who was taken into custody, stated in her testimony, "My boyfriend couldn't buy it because he said he didn't have the money. I stole it so he wouldn't be upset."
On March 6, Thursday, around 15:30, a shocking theft incident occurred in the Camiikebir neighborhood of the Beyoğlu district in Istanbul. According to the information obtained; Firdevs Ç. went to the jeweler on the street with her boyfriend the day before the incident. The woman liked a gold crown valued at 250,000 lira here. However, since the woman could not buy the crown, she left the jeweler with her boyfriend.
STOLE THE CROWN UNDER THE PRETEXT OF TAKING A PHOTO
The next day, Firdevs Ç. went to the jeweler alone. After asking for the gold crown, the woman took many photos with her mobile phone and then stole the crown and ran away. The jeweler chased the woman who was running away with the gold crown down the street. Although the jeweler tried to catch the woman, he was unsuccessful, and she lost her trail. The events were captured second by second on security cameras.
CAUGHT WITH THE CROWN
Following the incident, the Beyoğlu Public Security Bureau teams launched an investigation based on the jeweler's complaint and began examining the security camera footage. As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the thief was Firdevs Ç. In ongoing operations, the woman was caught at her home in the Kadımehmetefendi neighborhood. During the search of Firdevs Ç.'s house, the gold crown was seized.
"I STOLE IT SO MY BOYFRIEND WOULDN'T BE SAD"
Firdevs Ç., who was taken into custody, was brought to the police station for her statement. It was learned that the woman who stole the crown said, "We saw it with my boyfriend, we liked it. He couldn't buy it because he didn't have money. I stole it so he wouldn't be sad." After completing her procedures at the police station, Firdevs Ç. was referred to the courthouse for the crime of "theft from a workplace."
RELEASED
The woman was released by the court under judicial control conditions, while the crown seized at her home was returned to the jeweler.
