Workers in the cleaning, parks and gardens, veterinary services, and public works departments of Beşiktaş Municipality have decided to go on strike due to the months-long delay in their salaries. As a result of the action, familiar scenes emerged in the district where garbage was not collected.
Workers in the cleaning, parks and gardens, veterinary affairs, and technical services departments of Beşiktaş Municipality, which is considered one of the strongholds of the CHP in Istanbul, went on strike due to the delay in their salaries for months. The workers who went to their workplaces wore their work uniforms but did not start their shifts.
STREETS TURNED INTO GARBAGE MOUNTAINS
As the workers who went on strike due to the non-payment of their dues did not collect the trash, familiar scenes were once again seen on the streets. Garbage piles formed in Ortaköy, one of the most important points of the district.
CITIZENS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SITUATION
As the trash overflowed from the containers, citizens captured the scene on camera, but no statement has come from the municipality regarding when the workers' grievances will be addressed. Neighborhood residents reacted to the garbage piles due to the bad smell and the risk of disease spread.
